Dynamic electronic communications play an important role in reaching stakeholders, media, policymakers and other targeted audiences. The Hatcher Group offers cutting-edge electronic communications strategies to engage these audiences. We produce and maintain Web sites and drive traffic to them through creative strategies. We create and maintain databases of journalists, policymakers and stakeholders. We produce and disseminate attractive electronic newsletters and postcards, disseminate reports to listservs and Web sites and offer tools such as RSS feeds, podcasts, and video. We help create blogs and reach out to bloggers.
A clean, user-friendly Web site provides the foundation for successfully implementing electronic communications strategies. The Hatcher Group has managed the development of Web sites for numerous clients, including the Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative, the DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation, the Eckerd Family Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Family Economic Success initiative and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation’s StateEITC.com resource center.
CASE STUDIES
SPOTLIGHT ON POVERTY AND OPPORTUNITY IN THE 2008 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN: AN ONLINE PORTAL TO RESOURCES, RESEARCH AND CANDIDATES’ PLANS ON POVERTY
The Hatcher Group is working with the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) to manage the bi-partisan, foundation-led initiative, Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity: Foundations Ask Presidential Candidates What They’ll Do for America. The Annie E. Casey and Eos foundations launched the initiative in October 2007 at the National Press Club, featuring Jack Kemp, former secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Harold Ford, chair of the Democratic Leadership Council, and U.S. Representative James McGovern (D-Mass.). Spotlight seeks to focus public attention on poverty and opportunity during the 2008 presidential campaign, in order to create a mandate for action by the new president and Congress in 2009. The candidates were asked to answer questions on poverty. Their answers are available at www.spotlightonpoverty.org. Spotlight features commentary from public figures and serves as a resource for recent reports, analyses, and data on poverty and opportunity.
HIGHLIGHTING OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME EFFORTS IN E-CARDS AND E-NEWSLETTERS
The Hatcher Group has provided comprehensive communications support for Project My Time, a major after-school initiative led by the DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation and supported by The Wallace Foundation.
One strategy is using online communications to boost visibility among funders, partners and supporters through e-cards and e-newsletters. The Hatcher Group writes, edits and designs a quarterly e-newsletter about the initiative distributed to more than 1,000 political leaders, community-based organizations, business partners and educators.
The Hatcher Group also garnered a high-profile feature story in The Washington Post about a new teen pregnancy program. To ensure the article’s visibility, The Hatcher Group designed an eye-catching e-card to distribute to the Trust’s partners and supporters. This strategy highlighted the program’s value before the right audience. From highlighting media stories to announcing public events, e-cards are a surefire way to gain broad visibility.
The Hatcher Group writes, edits and disseminates newsletters for its clients. Sign up below to subscribe.
