Amy has more than 20 years experience in communications and journalism. Prior to joining The Hatcher Group, she was the national communications director for Washington, D.C.-based Appleseed, a network of 16 public interest justice centers in the U.S. and Mexico. At Appleseed, Amy developed a strategic positioning manual for the organization, revamped a weekly on-line newsletter and oversaw the creation of a new Web site.
Amy previously spent 16 years as a writer and editor for U.S. News & World Report, covering such issues as the workplace, education and the family, and three years as the Web and e-zine editor for Parents' Action for Children, an early childhood advocacy group.
Amy is the author of Downshifting: Reinventing Success on a Slower Track, a 1991 national bestseller that explored five alternative strategies for professional success. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Michigan.
