Angie Cannon comes to The Hatcher Group with more than 20 years of journalism experience. Between 1998 and 2005, Angie worked as a senior writer at U.S. News and World Report, covering legal, political, criminal and social issues. Before joining U.S. News, she covered the White House and then the Justice Department for the Knight-Ridder Washington Bureau from 1993-1998, writing stories for 375 newspapers around the country.

 

She began her career as staff writer at The Miami Herald and later covered education at the San Francisco Chronicle and city government for The Detroit News.

 

She has won numerous local, state and national awards for her work. In 2003, with assistance from the staff of U.S. News, she authored 23 Days of Terror (Simon and Schuster’s Pocket Books) about the Washington. D.C.-area sniper shootings.

 

She has volunteered for the Arena Stage Theater in Washington, D.C., Habitat for Humanity, and K.E.E.N., Kids Enjoy Exercise Now. She serves on the board of directors of the Capitol Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

 

A St. Louis native, Angie is an honors graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana, where she received a bachelor’s degree in history and journalism. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Indiana University.
