Olivia Doherty

Senior Associate

 

Olivia joined The Hatcher Group after serving as a community reporter for The Gazette newspaper covering the areas of Bethesda and Kensington in Montgomery County, Md. As an undergraduate, Olivia covered Philadelphia city news for the Daily Pennsylvanian, the student-run newspaper of the University of Pennsylvania. In that position, Olivia won the 2005 National Mark of Excellence Award in Breaking News from the Society of Professional Journalists for a front-page package she wrote on a public transit workers’ strike.

 

She previously worked as an intern reporting and writing for Education Week and the Lancaster New Era and also participated in student projects with the Asian American Journalists Association. Olivia has held internships with the public relations department of the National Education Association, Beyond Productions and the Organization of Chinese Americans. As a student, Olivia served as chair of the Asian Pacific Student Coalition, an umbrella organization of 17 campus groups, and also as vice chair of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Week planning board.

 

Olivia holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Pennsylvania.
