
Rob Doherty
Vice President
Rob Doherty comes to The Hatcher Group after 21 years at Reuters, the international wire service. He was appointed Reuters Washington bureau chief in July 2000 and in March 2006 was given responsibility for bureau operations in Boston, New York, Atlanta and Miami. He also served as deputy managing editor for the Americas starting in 2004. In the latter role, he was responsible for helping oversee the operations of the company’s 38 bureaus in the region.
Rob joined Reuters in 1987 and served as national security editor in the Washington bureau, Washington news editor, news editor for the Middle East and Africa (based in Cyprus), and deputy news editor for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (based in London).
Prior to joining Reuters, he worked as a reporter and editor for United Press International in Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Washington and as a reporter and editor for McGraw-Hill’s energy publications in Washington. A native of Wilmington, Del., Rob has journalism degrees from the University of Maryland and Columbia University. He and his wife have three children, ages 20, 19 and 12. He and his family live in Potomac, Maryland.
