
Rob Doherty
Vice President
Rob Doherty joined The Hatcher Group as a vice president in November 2008 after 28 years in journalism, including more than 21 as an editor and news executive at Reuters, the international news agency. In more than two decades at Reuters, his jobs included Washington bureau chief, deputy managing editor for the Americas, national security editor in the Washington bureau, Washington news editor, news editor for the Middle East and Africa (based in Cyprus), and deputy news editor for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (based in London).
Prior to joining Reuters, he worked as a reporter and editor for United Press International in Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Washington and as a reporter and editor for McGraw-Hill’s energy publications in Washington. A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Rob has journalism degrees from the University of Maryland and Columbia University. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism, where he teaches an introductory class on news writing and reporting. He and his family live in Potomac, Maryland.
