Tanika Davis

Senior Associate

Tanika Davis has been a journalist for 13 years, working for such major metropolitan dailies as the (Raleigh) News & Observer, the Kansas City Star and The Baltimore Sun.

During her four years at the Star and her nine years working for The Sun, Tanika mostly covered education-related stories, reporting and writing about both small suburban and large city school systems.

In 1998 she was given the Public Service Project Award from the Society of Professional Journalists’ Heart of America Chapter for “Marks of Excellence,” a series she co-wrote on successful Kansas City schools.

Tanika’s thorough and compassionate coverage of Baltimore’s beleaguered city school district regularly garnered space on the Sun’s front page, as well as earned her an Associated Press Award for best local/state government coverage in 2004.

At the Sun, Tanika also wrote extensively about aging issues, from Baby Boomers to Social Security to medication mismanagement. On that beat, Tanika tackled tough topics such as nursing home and assisted living reform and the economic challenges of low-income older Americans.

Tanika is a magna cum laude graduate of Howard University in Washington D.C. She lives in Baltimore.
