Finance Director

The Hatcher Group is seeking an experienced professional to lead its finance department. This role will serve as a strategic financial partner to the firm’s owners, driving financial strategy and operational excellence. The finance director will supervise a staff accountant and collaborate with project managers. The ideal candidate can provide oversight of all finance and contract functions. In addition, they will build effective internal relationships to help develop sound pricing models and manage the firm’s contracts in an effective and fully compliant manner. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, direct, and organize the finance and accounting operations within the firm to guarantee fiscal integrity and execute financial strategy.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with firm leaders by providing an insightful financial perspective that supports their decision-making.
  • Develop a pricing strategy to achieve revenue targets with appropriate profitability measures to achieve the company’s growth.
  • Manage relationship with outside CPA firm and other financial institutions.
  • Work with business development team on proposal financials and RFP evaluation process.
  • Lead annual budget process and develop and maintain rolling monthly forecast.
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts.
  • Build relationships with key clients and offer guidance on complex budget management issues.
  • Lead finance infrastructure projects in partnership with VP, Business Operations and VP, Talent and Culture.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in managing finances for a professional services firm or similar organization.
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with government contracts, Time and Materials and Firm Fixed Price contract terms and billing.
  • Experience with GSA contracts a plus.
  • Experience with monthly close processes and financial reporting.
  • Excellent Excel skills (pivot table, complex formulas, Vlookup, and modeling)
  • Strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple deadlines and change priorities quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Previous experience using SageIntacct is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
