Chris has more than 15 years of experience in the environmental field. At The Hatcher Group, Chris has managed and worked with a diverse range of nonprofit organizations and coalitions working on sustainability, clean water and conservation issues. His clients include American Rivers, Sierra Club, Partners for Open Space, STAR Communities, The Funders Network for Smart Growth and Sustainable Communities, Waterkeepers Chesapeake, Common Cause Maryland and Clean Water Healthy Families.

Chris is a regularly published author of opinion pieces and is experienced in media relations, focus group and opinion survey work, and social media and online communications. He has a successful track record in advocacy, and is familiar with both state and local governments.

Before joining The Hatcher Group, Chris was the executive director of West/Rhode Riverkeeper, Inc., a nonprofit organization protecting the West and Rhode rivers in the Chesapeake Bay region. He developed new public outreach initiatives and began producing and publicizing annual river report cards.

In addition to his professional experience, Chris was elected to the Anne Arundel County (Md.) Council in 2010, serves on the Maryland Critical Areas Commission and chairs the Smart Growth America’s Maryland Local Leaders Advisory Board. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. He lives in Annapolis with his family and spends as much time outdoors as possible.
