David has written extensively about education and worked closely with the media to strengthen coverage of key education issues.
Prior to joining The Hatcher Group, David was a program manager at the Education Writers Association. There, he planned and executed events, conducted research on a variety of education topics, and wrote for the organization’s website. In doing so, he collaborated with reporters and media outlets to strengthen the quality of education coverage.
Originally a pre-K teacher, David is passionate about learning and writing about issues that affect students and schools. His writing about education has appeared in The Atlantic and Education Next, among other outlets. He has also held internships at the U.S. Department of Education and New America, a Washington-based think tank.
David earned a bachelor’s degree in government from The University of Texas at Austin, where he wrote for the award-winning Daily Texan student newspaper. Following graduation, he was a Teach for America corps member in St. Louis.
