Dawn has more than 23 years of experience working in communications, and for the past 18 years she has focused on public relations and advocacy campaigns related to environmental issues as well as on efforts to support the Chesapeake Bay and clean water. Some of her clients include the Environmental Defense Fund; Keith Campbell Foundation for the Environment; Maryland Clean Agriculture Coalition; Maryland Pesticide Education Network; National Wildlife Foundation; Town Creek Foundation; University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science and the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association.
Before coming to The Hatcher Group, Dawn was communications director at the Maryland Department of the Environment under Governor Martin O’Malley. Prior to joining MDE, Dawn worked as deputy director and communications manager at the Maryland League of Conservation Voters and as publications and electronic communications manager at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Dawn started her career as an editor in book publishing.
Dawn’s appreciation for the environment comes from growing up in Pennsylvania farm country, near a small stream that eventually enters the Chesapeake Bay. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English literature and creative writing at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and also studied at the University of Wales in Swansea, U.K. Dawn is a 2015 recipient of the Anne Arundel County YWCA Tribute to Women and in Industry Award. She serves on the board of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and is the volunteer communications lead for the Maryland Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
