Lindsey Smith’s background in graphic design and communication brings strength and cohesion to her projects.
For 20 years, Lindsey has had one foot in design and one foot in communications. Before joining The Hatcher Group, she was a Senior Graphic Designer with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), designing books, brochures, ads, print materials, annual reports, and websites. Lindsey also brings a wealth of prior freelance experience for clients including the American Bankers Association, US Chemical Safety Board, US Geological Survey, National Geographic, and Smithsonian Botanic Garden.
Lindsey earned her public relations degree in 2002 from Northern Arizona University and received an international communications minor from Hanze University in Groningen, Holland. After graduation, she served in the Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan as an English teacher. She then earned a BFA in graphic design from George Mason University in 2011. Upon graduation, she received the Outstanding Undergraduate Graphic Design Award. She recently served on the board of AIGA DC and worked on the committee for the AIGA DC Continuum Scholarship Fund.
PASSIONS THAT BENEFIT MY CLIENTS
- Nothing is too big a challenge Joining the Peace Corps and traveling to Central Asia to learn a new language (Kyrgyz) and way of living stretched my comfort and expanded my capabilities
- Giving Back Volunteering my design services for non-profits and organizations in need keeps my heart and mind happy while improving the lives of the community around me
- Words to Live By “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
- Energized When not designing, Lindsey can be found alongside her family in the backyard either zip-lining, on a treehouse hammock, or bouncing on the trampoline – sparking creative energy and ideas for her next design project
