Looking in the rear-view mirror at 2020

December 2020

As we near the end of 2020, it’s natural to start looking in the rear-view mirror at the year that was. And it’s pretty remarkable what our team has accomplished during such a challenging and uncertain time. While reaching out to colleagues for help capturing 2020, it became clear our capabilities innovation and client growth were significant and deserved more ink than is appropriate here, so we’ll develop a separate piece about our expansion. For now, we’ll share a few of our favorite things:

  • kicking off the year with a snowy and raucous team lunch
  • celebrating personal and professional milestones
  • welcoming nine new teammates
  • answering the call to help clients and each other during the pandemic
  • launching a rebrand that fits like a glove
  • making progress on our commitment to anti-racism and diversity, equity and inclusion
  • offering pro bono support (for children’s performing arts, food safety workers, and voter education)
  • serving our community (to address food insecurity and help families in need over the holidays) and
  • winning 44 prestigious and diverse awards!

Our team was powered by purpose this year, also advancing pressing public awareness campaigns regarding voter access and disinformation, COVID-19, and eligibility for critical CARES resources, to name a few.

This final edition of Spark for 2020 ties a nice bow around our year at Hatcher. We share our pro bono work to celebrate election heroes, highlight a unique collaboration to create a million healthy acres of soil in Maryland, and offer tips to bring your own 2020 communications to a creative and effective close.

We are optimistic about 2021 – personally and professionally – and wish you a happy and healthy holiday season, however you choose to celebrate.
