Overview

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) works to advance the global Black community by developing leaders, informing policy, and educating the public. CBCF offers a wide range of programs focused on creating opportunities within the Black community and a platform for Black people to learn about critical issues. In 2021, CBCF partnered with The Hatcher Group on a strategic communications initiative to raise its national profile and become a thought leader on issues of racial justice and equity, as well as refresh its brand and redesign its website

Strategy

At Hatcher, we believe that any successful engagement is rooted in a deep understanding of our client and research. We started the engagement by reviewing CBCF’s communications and design materials to gain an understanding of their strengths and opportunities for growth. We delivered an audit of their media presence, digital footprint, visuals, and website, as well as survey and stakeholder interview results, which informed our strategy throughout the engagement.

Creative

We drew on our communications and design expertise to deliver a new brand and creative that spoke to CBCF’s mission and vision for the future. The new logo, based on a Capitol Building dome painting, takes a unique perspective on CBCF’s work and highlights its goal of lifting the Black community to new heights. After rounding out the rebrand, we created a new website and suite of materials, including videos and motion graphics, event promotional materials, a PPT template, and digital advertising.

Website UX/UI

Our team of UX/UI experts redesigned CBCF’s website to align with the new branding and provide a user-friendly experience.

Multimedia Production

We edited and produced a four-minute video for CBCF’s Sojourner Truth Legacy Project event, which featured members of the Congressional Black Caucus reading “Ain’t I a Woman” by Sojourner Truth and discussing her lasting legacy on Black women. We also produced three videos for CBCF’s 50th Anniversary to air during BET’s Phoenix Awards in September 2021, as well as a video for CBCF’s Annual Legislative Conference, Black Excellence Unparalleled —Pressing Onward in Power, also in September 2021.
